No countdown events at the Bund

There will be no countdown events on the coming New Year’s Eve at the Bund, police said on Sunday.

Police said they will have more officers patrol the streets near major tourist sites in the city center, including the Bund, Xintiandi and Yuyuan Garden, to respond in time to emergency.

Meanwhile, Shanghai traffic police have embarked on intensified crackdown on drunk driving around the city with a focus on streets near recreational businesses, restaurants and bars as well as the city’s major streets and elevated roads.
