Office workers get their air back
AIR conditioners were finally switched on yesterday in an office building in Pudong New Area in which workers had endured the heat since the summer began.
The property management company of the Tomson Center on Zhangyang Road switched the cooling system on yesterday afternoon after the Tomson Group, the developer and main owner of the building, agreed to pay more than 570,000 yuan (US$88,122) as the operation fee for the system.
The China Eastern Airlines Property Management Co. kept the air conditioning off since November, claiming the fee from the owners was not enough, said Cui Yawei, business department manager of the Tomson Group.
She said the white-collar workers in the more than 30 companies renting offices in the building had to wear thick coats in their offices in the winter and now had to use electric fans to cool down.
