Official killed in stabbing
A SENIOR Party official in Shanghai's Qingpu District was found fatally stabbed in the parking lot at his residence on Monday.
The body of Li Mingyun, a Party official with Qingpu Industrial Zone, was found in an underground parking lot behind his apartment about 8:30am.
A female resident saw a body covered in blood when driving her car out of the lot. Residents came to the site after hearing her shouting and called the police.
Li, 59, had been a Party official for Qingpu Industrial Zone since 2005. Before that, he worked as the director of Qingpu Development and Reform Commission and the Bureau of Statistics for eight years. Qingpu Industrial Zone was founded in 1995 and is now home to various high-tech companies.
Residents in the neighborhood said Li was well liked. He was polite and friendly to everyone and was just nine months away from retirement when he was killed.
