A PEKING Opera actor was detained over five robbery cases in four days, Xinmin.cn reported yesterday.
The 27-year-old suspect surnamed Wang from Anhui Province allegedly robbed several small hostels and Internet cafes in Baoshan District of more than 5,000 yuan (US$750) by threatening the receptionists at knifepoint, police said. It is said he robbed two premises last Saturday and three on Tuesday. An official with the opera troupe told police that the man was addicted to gambling.
