Orange weather alert issued for heavy fog

THE Shanghai Meteorological Bureau upgraded the fog alert to orange at 4:33am this morning as the visibility dropped to less than 200 meters.
Orange is the second highest level in the country's four-scale fog alert system.
Six outbound fights have been canceled at Hongqiao International Airport by 7:20am due to the foggy weather.
The weather bureau expects the heavy fog to last until after 10am. Visibility in the downtown is less than 1,000 meters while that in the suburban areas has dropped to within 200 meters.
