Lilies from Netherlands centerpiece at city flower show

THE Shanghai International Flower Show featuring a variety of flowers such as lily, cherry blossom and peony will open at the Shanghai Botanical Garden in Xuhui District tomorrow.

The themed flower of this year's show is lily and about 20,000 lilies imported from the Netherlands will be in full bloom during the show, garden operator said.

Orchid from Thailand, bonsai from South Korea as well as clematis and succulents will be on display. The show will run through May 8.

A cheongsam display and a Han costume garden party will be held during the exhibition.

Visitors are able to learn flower arrangement and experience the fun of gardening during the display.

Botanical gardens and parks in countries including the United Kingdom, Thailand, South Korea, the United States, Japan, Canada and Spain will display flowers or participate in horticulture forum at the show.
