Over 3,500 instant messages sent out to erring drivers in a week
The new instant messaging system informing drivers of their traffic offenses has sent out 3,540 messages in the first week, police said on Monday.
Illegal lane changing is the most frequent traffic offense with 1,462 messages.
Meanwhile, 981 messages were sent to drivers who illegally used the elevated roads; 788 drivers were caught illegally using bus-only lanes and 260 caught speeding.
The largest amount of offenses were discovered by the camera installed at the exit of the western side of the Humin Elevated Road to the Caoxi Overpass near the Shanghai Stadium from which 618 offenses were counted.
