POS machine abusers end up in jail
TWO people were sentenced to prison terms for using a POS machine to cash credit cards for others, the Pudong New Area People's Court said yesterday.
The offenders, surnamed Xu and Huo, had illegally cashed out more than 1.16 million yuan (US$170,416) and earned 10,000 yuan handling fee in just two months. They were sentenced to eight and nine months in prison respectively and fined 10,000 yuan, the court said.
It said Xu and Huo started an aquatic products wholesale company early this year, but their only business was helping others to cash credit cards and charging a handling fee. From February to April, they cashed a total of 1.16 million yuan and earned 10,000 yuan.
The two were arrested by police on April 22, the court said.
