Parking lot keeper crushed to death by fee evader

A downtown parking lot fee collector was crushed to death by a car driver who refused to pay for his parking fee this morning.
The driver in his 40s was trying to leave the parking lot on Dong'an Road at about 10am when the victim in her 50s stood in front of his car to stop him, witnesses said.
The car with Anhui license plates continued to move forward slowly, knocked down the woman and rolled over her, witnesses said.
Passers-by rushed to the car and struck its windows to make it stop. They lifted the car, pulled the woman from under the wheel and rushed her to the hospital.
The man looked panic and left his car to make a phone call. Afterwards he tried to drive away but was stopped by police at the crossroad of Dong'an Road and Xietu Road, witnesses said.
The woman surnamed Xiong was a local Shanghainese. Her parking lot charges 15 yuan (US$2.3) per hour between 7am and 5pm.
