DRIVERS don't need to detour around to look for parking spaces in downtown Luwan District now thanks to the launch of a real-time parking space map online and on road screens, government officials said yesterday.
People are able to get up-to-date information on parking spaces, including location and the best routes to them, on their cell phones and the road screens.
The information is updated every 30 seconds, officials said.
"The intelligent map will decrease road congestion in the downtown area, with less people driving around blindly on roads looking for a place to park," said Li Shui, deputy director of the Luwan Distrcit Construction and Traffic Committee.
The intelligent map covers all 12,000 parking spaces in the district as well as the 30 parking lots near the World Expo site.
