Peking Opera artist Shang launches training class for young performers

Famous Peking Opera performing artist Shang Changrong from Shanghai Peking Opera company launched a training class for young talented performers and theater critics today.
The curriculum, supported by the China National Arts Fund will last till September.
A total of 30 students from major Peking Opera troupes nationwide will be offered seven art lectures on the aesthetics, concepts and character of Shang's art.
They will also attend the shooting of Shanghai's Peking Opera film "Cao Cao and Yang Xiu." Later this year the students will present a report performance.
Shang, 76, said he hopes the curriculum can inspire young performers to innovate while preserving the original beauty of traditional arts.
