Pete Docter in town to promote 'Inside Out'

AMERICAN film director Pete Docter is in town today to promote the highly-anticipated animated comedy-drama adventure film "Inside Out," which is slated for release in China on October 6.

Docter, known for his animated productions "Monster, Inc" and the Oscar-winning "Up" will also attend the film's China Premiere tonight at the Shanghai Film Art Center. He will talk with local audience stories behind the film's production and the film's charm.

The film revolves around the adventure of a young girl in whose mind five personified emotions are set to lead her through life. It has 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D version in town.

Docter, on his first visit to Shanghai said that he has been amazed by so many things, especially food.

He said that the film is also inspired by his 11-year-old daughter who as a young teenager now appears to be serious and quiet.

"It made me think what is going on in her head and what happens there," Docter said. "It is a big project and the hardest film we have ever done."

It cost Docter and his team around 5 years to develop the idea of the film and put it onto the big screen. Docter added that the film also displays a breakthrough of animation technology to express the feelings of people. The technology has made the emotions look the way people feel.

Jonas Rivera, producer of the film also cooperated with Docter on "Up." He said that their next project will hopefully be a completely different movie with new fun ideas, novel characters and stories.
