THE manager of a city pharmacy has been arrested for allegedly selling fake injections to treat cancer, police said yesterday. Zhabei District police said the suspect, surnamed Zhang, was manager of a famous local pharmacy, which was not identified. The fake injection was Herceptin, a prescription drug to treat cancer patients which sells at about 23,000 yuan (US$3,549) per bottle. Police said Zhang was selling the fake Herceptin at 5,000 yuan cheaper than that, and because of his occupation, customers believed it was genuine.
