SHANGHAI police said yesterday that they had detained a man surnamed Yan for alleged literary piracy after he established a website for downloading novels. The Pudong New Area police said Yan, director of www.uutxt.com, illegally uploaded more than 30,000 novels to the site, infringing the copyright of literature websites. The main server was set up overseas to escape detection, police said. The 25-year-old man was caught June 28 in Heilongjiang Province.
