Plastic surgery to help boy go to school

FIVE-YEAR-OLD Zhang Hao could soon go to kindergarten after receiving a facial plastic surgery next week.
The boy, whose face was severely burned in a fire, is called "Little Monster" as children are scared by his face. His mother has also run away from home, leaving him to the grandparents.
Now he has been recruited by the Xiaohafo Kindergarten near his home in Jinshan District after local media reported his plight this week.
The Dongfeng Kindergarten, also in the district, will send teachers to his home to teach him during the treatment, said the Jinshan District Education Bureau today.
The bureau held a hearing on the boy's admission to the kindergarten on Tuesday. Other parents at the hearing showed sympathy to the boy and agreed that he could go to the Xiaohafo as others of his age.
"The kindergarten had intended to accept him even before media reported the story," said Jiang Zhiming, director of the bureau. "He went to the kindergarten a few times but was shunned by other children. Then he went back home."
Zhang will receive the first operation next Wednesday. The second operation will be carried out in four to six months, doctors said.
