Plaza 66 revamps dining section

PLAZA 66, dubbed Shanghai's most expensive shopping mall, is revamping its dining section to diversify restaurants from high-end cuisines to those providing cheap lunch to nearby office workers.

The revamp, expected to be finished in mid May, will increase the proportion of restaurants to 12 percent of the mall's total stores, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.

Plaza 66 hopes the eateries will help prolong the stay of its customers.

But most of the restaurants will remain high-end because most of its customers are attracted to its luxury products, the newspaper cited a mall official as saying.

The existing Shanghai-style restaurant Lu Lu will remain and a new Sichuan-style restaurant, Pin Chuan, will be introduced, the official added.
