Plenty of events in store for `Golden Week'
IT'S time to unwind and enjoy the year's last "Golden Week." Almost all Shanghai districts, including Chongming Island, will hold events during the seven-day National Day holiday that starts from Friday.
Splendid night views will light up every night from 6:30pm, with the best along the Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek and around the Expo site, People's Square and Lujiazui area, said Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau.
During the day, people can take part in many cultural activities. Downtown Xuhui and Luwan districts, for example, invite people to experience life and culture in traditional alleys. Hengshan Road and Huaihai Road M. will be venues for a host of holiday events.
Nature lovers can go to the suburbs where forest parks, botanical gardens, fruit and flower farms await holiday visitors.
But rain is expected at both ends of the seven-day holiday. Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said the city will have rain on Friday and Saturday and on October 6 to 7. Sunny or cloudy sky is expected in the middle of the holiday.
The highest temperature will be around 23 to 24 degrees Celsius and the lowest temperature will occur in the early hours of October 5 at 14 degrees, the bureau said.
