Plum rains may end at weekend
SHANGHAI may end this year's annual plum rain season by the weekend, as weathermen forecast the lingering rain would clear around Friday.
If so, this year's plum rain season, starting from June 17, will be nearly a month, longer than previous years, weathermen told today's Shanghai Morning Post.
The latest rain belt forecast to hit last Wednesday arrived three days later, prolonging the season for a couple of days, they said.
Normally, the season starts from June 15 and goes through July 9, lasting for 25 days.
Shanghai had the longest plum rain season in 1954 when the rainy season continued for 59 days.
