Police: Baby abandoned because of leukemia
THE baby girl found abandoned last week in suburban Jinshan District has been diagnosed of leukemia, Shanghai police said today.
Authorities failed to find her medical record in hospitals in Jinshan and are trying to identify her identity through DNA test and other official systems.
The six-month-old baby wearing a red skirt and red socks was found in Jinshanwei Town last Thursday. A market surveillance video showed a man leaving the baby in a stroller there around noon, police said.
Police later found milk powder, diapers and clothes in the stroller but no information about the girl's identify. They urged anyone with a clue to the baby's family to call their number 57260110.
