Police arrest taxi driver for murder

A TAXI driver has been arrested for allegedly killing a woman passenger with a screwdriver in August, local prosecutors said yesterday.
Police found a body floating in a river near a sluice gate in Jinshan District's Zhujing Town on August 25. They found injuries to her head and body that were consistent with an attack by somebody armed with a screwdriver.
After comparing the body with information on the missing persons register, police determined the body to be a woman surnamed Zhao, who was reported missing two days before her body was found.
Investigations reveal that Zhao had taken a taxi on the afternoon of August 23 driven by a man surnamed Jiang. He is alleged to have stabbed the woman in the head and body, although the reasons for the attack are as yet unknown.
The Jinshan District Prosecutors' Office approved the arrest yesterday.
