Police ban seniors' scooters
CITY police are banning electrical three-wheeled scooters mostly used by senior citizens.
Local industry and commerce authorities said they never issued licenses for the scooters, which are popular among older residents but not considered safe. The violators will be fined up to 2,000 yuan (US$315), police said.
Some senior citizens said they need the scooters for transportation and relaxation, and as a way to ride slowly to avoid danger.
Sales online have boomed for the scooters, which are priced in the thousands of yuan.
