Police crack down on errant drivers who tread on zebra crossings

TRAFFIC police are cracking down on drivers who drive on to zebra crossings even at green light but with traffic ahead of them.

On Saturday afternoon, about 10 drivers were caught at the crossroads of Guohe and Zhengzhi roads in Yangpu District within 15 minutes.

A driver surnamed Xu told Shanghai Daily that he didn't intend to tread on the zebra crossings, but went ahead seeing the green light.

The drivers were fined 100 yuan (US$15) each for the offense.
