Police detain mentally-challenged man who knifed 4 in Pudong

A mentally-challenged man has been detained after he attacked four people with a knife in Pudong Saturday afternoon, Shanghai police said.

Police said the 39-year-old man, surnamed Pan, attacked four people - three women and a man - with a knife on Zhangjiang Road near Gaoke Road.

Police said they were informed of this incident at 1:10pm and managed to bring him under control quickly.

All the four are said to be in stable condition, police said, adding that he was suffering from mental problems.

Investigation is continuing.
