Police hunt for man carrying toy gun on subway
POLICE said they have identified a man shown in a photo posted online riding the subway with a toy gun and pointing the replica gun at the photographer, eastday.com reported today.
The photo, posted last night, sparked an uproar online and led police to investigate.
Police said they identified the male suspect by going through security camera footage and are now looking for the person, who was seen riding Line 9. The suspect got onto the subway without a ticket and got past security.
Possession of replica guns is illegal and may be punished with fines unless they are found in large amounts. Police said, however, that using a replica gun to disturb public order can incur prison time upon conviction.
