Police hunt man after his brother and in-law murdered

SHANGHAI police said today they are still hunting for a man who disappeared after his elder brother and sister-in-law were found murdered in an apartment they shared.

Neighbors said they often heard loud quarrels in the apartment where Wang, the fugitive, lived with his 82-year-old mother quietly until victims moved in recently. The brothers both claimed ownership of the apartment and even went to court.

Pudong police said the case was still under investigation.

The couple was found in a pool of blood at about 3pm yesterday when Wang's sister visited their apartment in Building 46 at 510 Shangpu Road in Pudong.

Wang, a bachelor in his 40s, had lived with his mother in the two-bedroom apartment for years before his brother, in his 50s, demanded to move in as he was co-owner of the apartment, the neighbors said.

Wang's sister had taken their mother to live with her family to escape the fierce quarrels in the house. The old woman was not at the scene of murder.
