Police nab duo for murder at garage

TWO young men have been detained for the murder of a woman and the theft of her car and belongings in a residential area, police said yesterday.

One of the suspects, surnamed Li, was the security guard of the neighborhood in Lane 68 Xiuyan Road W., where the murder and robbery happened, police said.

Li, from Henan Province, is 17 years old. His accomplice, surnamed Chen, from Anhui Province, is 20, police said.

Li and Chen stabbed the 44-year-old victim, surnamed Yang, to death and drove away Yang's luxury car with her belongings, police said. Yang's body was found by a cleaner of the residential area in the garage of the 18-story building on Monday morning, police said.

Yang was lying in blood and was dead when the ambulance came and her BMW and belongings were gone, police said. Yang owned an apartment in the building.

The scene was soon cordoned by the police and Li, the missing security guard, was later identified by police as the prime suspect.

Yang's car was later found abandoned in neighboring Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, police said. The two were captured near Zhejiang's capital of Hangzhou and confessed to the crimes, police said.
