Police raid house stored with 700 kilograms of illegal fireworks and firecrackers
POLICE said on Wednesday that they confiscated 35 boxes of illegally stored fireworks and firecrackers, weighing 700 kilograms, from a residential house in Fengjing Town.
The alleged owner of the objects, a man surnamed Lu, is currently out of town, but will face punishment once he comes back to Shanghai, police told Shanghai Daily.
Police said they received tips from a citizen last week who alleged he had bought some fireworks and firecrackers from Lu at his house last year.
Lu sold them at prices lower than market average, the buyer allegedly said.
Police raided Lu’s house last Saturday and found the fireworks and firecrackers, all stored in a 20-square-meter room on the third floor of the house.
Lu could face fines up to 100,000 yuan (US$760 to 15,200), according to the city’s latest regulation.
