Police smash violent Internet gang
POLICE have busted 169 teenage gang members after a series of violent robberies and fights, Shanghai Morning Post reported today.
Detectives investigated the group after assault suspects claimed they belonged to a gang that contacted each other through the Internet. The group, set up in June last year, even had its own Webpage to recruit members, charging them differing fees for joining, the report said.
The ring leader, identified as Wang Sheng, had served time in prison for robbing mobile phones. Police linked 12 of his associates to eight separate cases.
