Police target fuel, tire thefts

PUDONG New Area police are targeting gangs for stealing trucks' diesel oil and spare wheels. Eight people have been taken into custody as investigations continue.
Police said thefts usually happened near the gas station beside the Outer Ring Road Tunnel of the A20 Highway between 2am and 3am while drivers were sleeping in their trucks or in the station lobby. A suspect surnamed Li is accused of stealing about 200 liters of diesel oil. A truck's spare tire costs from 400 yuan (US$58.50) to 1000 yuan.
