Poppy capsule trial
A man who used poppy capsules in roast duck dishes in Hongkou District will stand trial today.
Prosecutors said the suspect, surnamed Zhang, added poppy capsules, which are harmful and could cause health problems, into the food to make it tastier.
He sold the roast ducks from July to September last year.
It was found to contain harmful ingredients including morphine, codeine and papaverine after a test carried out by the Hongkou District Food and Drug Administration on September 20.
