Pregnant woman saved from suicide attempt

SHANGHAI police have saved a pregnant woman who was attempting to commit suicide by jumping into the Huangpu River yesterday.

The five-months-pregnant woman, a migrant worker from Anhui Province, was betrayed by her husband who took a mistress after her pregnancy, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.

Police patrolling Wusong Port found her crying alone on the riverside yesterday morning.

They talked to her and managed to dissuade her from committing suicide half an hour later.
