Property management company ordered to compensate 50,000 yuan to woman who broke her leg

A local property management company was ordered to compensate a woman 50,000 yuan after she broke her leg while riding her moped in the community.

The woman, surnamed Yao, was heading to work on her moped in a residential community in Jiading District at 4am in June last year, when she fell down after the moped struck a water hose, Jiefang.cn reported yesterday.

She fractured her right leg.

The water hose was placed by the property management company between two sewer wells to drain out water following heavy rains.

Yao sued the company at Jiading District People’s Court, demanding more than 190,000 yuan in compensation.

The court ruled that Yao had to take major share of the responsibility and be careful when riding her moped, while the property company was partially responsible as it should have warned people of the presence of the water hose.
