Raised walkway to link Zhongshan Park malls

AN elevated double-deck walkway will link the major transport hub and shopping malls in downtown Zhongshan Park, according to a new plan unveiled by the Shanghai Urban Planning and Design Research Institute.

The institute has submitted the blueprints to the city's urban planning authority for approval, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.

The walkway will connect Zhongshan Park station on the Metro Line 3 with shopping centers such as Cloud Nine Shopping Mall and Multimedia Life Plaza.

It will also provide coffee shops and snack bars where shoppers can take a rest and view the scene from above.

Spaces to park 13,000 cars and 5,300 bicycles are included in the plan.
