Rare flowers bloom at revamped garden
NEW flora and foliage varieties will be introduced at Shanghai Botanic Garden, which will reopen next Monday after three months' closure for renovation.
The newcomers include the Chinese yew, which is under grade-one state protection, and rare varieties of azaleas and pines, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.
The lake has been enlarged and more seats have been set up in the park for visitors, the newspaper said.
The renovation is the largest facelift project for the park since it opened in 1974.
