Rat makes hotpot dish a night to remember

A hotpot restaurant in Yangpu District was suspended from operating after a rat appeared on a food trolley.
A diner surnamed Yuan was having dinner with former classmates at the Wujiaochang outlet of Spice World, a chain hotpot restaurant, on Friday when the unexpected visitor arrived.
“With a big bang, the rat fell onto our food trolley suddenly,” Yuan said. At the same time, a female classmate screamed, he said.
“The rat was still alive, but it stopped moving after several twitches,” Yuan told ThePaper.cn.
“It was extremely disgusting. The dead rat was very big, over 20 centimeters long,” added Yuan.
A worker took the trolley away but not before several diners shot the scene on their mobile phones.
The restaurant waived Yuan’s bill, but his request for compensation was refused.
The Yangpu District Market Supervision and Management Bureau has ordered the restaurant to stop business for rectification and to ensure there are no more rats.
