Real estate fraud
A Shanghai woman who allegedly pretended to be a real estate boss and got more than 6.7 million yuan (US$1.06 million) by charging fake guarantee funds from victims seeking construction projects has been charged with fraud, Pudong prosecutors said yesterday.
The suspect, surnamed Shu, set up a real estate development firm in the name of her husband and son in July 2006 in Shanghai. The company was used purely for the scam and had never developed any properties, prosecutors said.
