Registration for 2016 Shanghai International Half Marathon starts at 9am tomorrow

Registration for the 2016 Shanghai International Half Marathon will start at 9am tomorrow, and quotas will be decided through a drawing system, the organizers announced on Thursday.

This year's event on April 17 will feature 8,500 runners in the 21-kilometer half marathon and anther 3,500 female runners in the 8-mile women's run.

Applicants can fill in personal information through the event's official website (www.shang-ma.com) or smartphone applications starting from 9am tomorrow. Registration window will close at 5pm on March 21, and the results of the draw will be announced at 2pm on March 22.

Those winning the quotas shall then complete the payment before March 25. The entrance fee for half marathon is 160 yuan (US$24.6), and 100 yuan for women's 8-mile.

Both races will start from the Oriental Pearl TV Tower in Pudong at 7am. The routes cover the Lujiazui area, Shibo Avenue, Yaolong Road, Qiantan area, and the finish line is set at the Oriental Sports Center.

A US$10,000 prize has been set for both men's and women's half marathon winners. The first 200 men and 200 women finishers will be awarded with quotas for the 2016 Shanghai International Marathon, which will be held in November.
