Residents urged to report safety hazards
RESIDENTS are being encouraged to report safety threats in their communities for the chance to win Expo tickets, city authorities said today.
People are encouraged to find weaknesses in community plans to tackle natural disasters such typhoons, storms, and snow. Other safety problems, such as fire, gas, water and social security problems, can also be reported, said the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau today.
People can visit the official Website, www.shmzj.gov.cn, to report problems by registering their real names to take part in the lucky draw. The Website is in Chinese.
Meanwhile, the bureau will report the problems to relevant authorities to solve.
The activity was to mark Disaster Prevention Day, which will fall tomorrow. After the massive earthquake in Sichuan Province on May 12, 2008, the country set up the day to help residents prepare for emergencies.
