Robber breaks into store, decamps with 300,000 yuan worth of jewelries
Shanghai police are looking for a man who robbed a gold shop of about 300,000 yuan worth of jewelries in suburban Qingpu District.
The robber broke into the store in a shopping center at 1:50am on Monday and took away 42 gold chains, the store owner surnamed Zhou told the police. The robbery has been recorded on a surveillance camera installed in the store.
“The robber looks like an acquaintance or someone who carefully studied the shop because he was familiar with the store,” Zhou said. The robber went to the right counter where most of the jewelry was stored and has not touched the safe that cannot be opened easily, he added.
The robber broke the glass door of a nearby restaurant to enter the shopping center. He took a long time to enter the store at around 2:20am after his hand was cut by the broken glasses, according to the video footages.
He skillfully cut off the wire of the alarm system inside the store and opened one of the counters with an iron hammer to take several boxes of jewelries. He simply examined several nearby counters before leaving.
