Roller skates cost eatery big
A local restaurant that delivers dishes on roller skates was ordered to pay nearly 10,000 yuan (US$1,569) to a customer whose toes were run over by a waiter's skating shoes, the Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People's Court said yesterday.
The plaintiff, surnamed Zhang, said her toes were injured last May when a waiter wearing skates ran into her in the city's suburban Songjiang District. Zhang said the restaurant gave her a free dinner but she found one of her toes had a fracture. She filed a lawsuit demanding more than 16,000 yuan.
