SMG's documentary channel announces new int'l co-production projects
SHANGHAI Media Group's Documentary Channel, a national satellite channel announced their new international documentary co-production projects today at the 21st Shanghai TV Festival.
In the next two years the channel will co-produce five Chinese themed documentary works with top-notch production and broadcasting platforms of the world including BBC Worldwide, Discovery Networks International, A+E Networks, KBS TV and MBC. Investment in production for all these projects will total 160 million yuan.
Officials from the Documentary Channel said that they hope to provide an incubator platform for nurturing original content that best combines the innovative minds of China and international media, that brings global wisdom to meet the China market, and to show the world stories about China.
All the five co-production projects are set in China, telling stories of Chinese culture, nature, history and people. They will be aired on both local and overseas channels.
"Coast China," a series in cooperation with BBC Worldwide is the 10th season of "Coast," one of BBC’s evergreen productions.
"Super Asia," a project with KBS TV documents China's significant influence on the economy of Asia.
"Celebrities vs Wild," is a highly-anticipated series in collaboration with Discovery Networks International about the 20-day adventure of celebrities in the wildness of mountains in China.
"Desire for Food" is a culture documentary series produced in 4K technology with MBC. It shows the mystery of food and how food changes the future of human being.
"China by Your Side," a co-production with A+E Networks is about the influence on American society by a developing China.
