School probes girl over video beating

A SHANGHAI school is investigating a girl student who was shown violently abusing and beating another girl in an online video, the latest incident of school violence exposed on the Internet.

An online "flesh search" alleged the girl in question was a student surnamed Xiong at Nanhu Vocational School's No.2 branch in Hongkou District.

Nanhu immediately launched an investigation and confirmed the girl in the video was Xiong, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.

The school is liaising with Shanghai Business and Tourism School, where the victim was a student, in its investigation. The school denied online rumors that the fight was over a boyfriend.

Nanhu expects to publish its investigation results later today.
