Scientists check for killer tick

A RESIDENT in Baoshan District said on his microblog account yesterday that a tick was discovered in his residential complex. The Baoshan District Center for Disease Control and Prevention took it back to its laboratory to check whether it was the tick infected with the virus that has killed 12 people across the country recently.
Experts said local residents needn't panic but should be vigilant if visiting mountainous area - where the ticks are found - and visit a doctor immediately if bitten.
