Search for 7 missing fishermen ends, one body found
SHANGHAI maritime rescuers have stopped searching for the seven fishermen who went missing on Sunday off the coast of Nanhui in Pudong District after more than 60 hours of search aided by a helicopter and rescue ships.
The capsized wooden fishing boat was salvaged this afternoon and one fisherman's body was recovered at 2:12pm, said the local maritime authorities.
The ship has been sent to a nearby port for investigation. But the officials said they will notify passing ships for further search if possible.
The fishing boat left the Nanhuizui port early Sunday morning and was scheduled to return in the afternoon. But it could not be reached by cell phone or walkie-talkie.
Four of the seven fishermen were local residents, officials said.
