Security Guards A Boost For Employment
SHANGHAI will recruit 10,000 security guards to help police before and during World Expo 2010, the newly established Shanghai Security Service Industry Association has announced.
Applicants will need residential registration, to be more than 1.72 meters, aged under 40 and have a senior high school certificate or better. Applicants who speak English or have computer skills will have priority, said Wei Zhongyi, director of the association.
"This will definitely ease the pressure in the job market to some extent," said Pu Donglin of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
One of the official recruiting companies, Shanghai Zhidian Human Resource Co Ltd, said it had received applications from 234 people since July.
A student from Shanghai Ocean University said he thought the work appealing. "The pre-tax salary is more than 2,000 yuan (US$146), which is better than many jobs."
