Self-made bread kills old woman

AN 82-year-old woman died while her 83-year-old husband was seriously injured in Jiading District after they ate self-made steamed bread tainted with pesticide.
Police said their investigation showed the couple used pesticide as baking powder by mistake when making steamed bread. The couple, who were not identified, ate the bread on Tuesday evening. The woman died in the hospital that night while her husband was seriously sickened and was still in critical condition at the hospital's intensive care unit yesterday.
