Shanghai Grand Theater opens new season with Shakespeare plays

Shanghai Grand Theater will open its new season this weekend with series of Shakespeare-themed programs to mark the 400th birth anniversary of the Bard.
The theater will have activities related to the great playwright from 1pm to 6pm on April 23 and April 24. Fans of the Bard can buy 20-yuan ticket to watch the rehearsals of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” from 2pm to 2:30pm on April 23. There are other activities planned like the Shakespeare-themed creative market, lectures, mini concerts and workshops.
The lectures will touch on topics like “Shakespeare and his contemporaries,” “When Tang Xianzu meets Shakespeare,” and “Shakespeare in music.”
Children can enjoy at the Lego Workshop from 2-4:40pm, while adults interested in theater can attend Shakespeare’s Characters Decoded Workshop in English language from 1-3:45pm.
