Shanghai International Music Fireworks Festival to kick off late September
Fireworks will light up the night sky of the Century Park in Pudong New Area with the opening of the 2015 Shanghai International Music Fireworks Festival in late September.
The festival will comprise six shows presented by artists from China, the United Kingdom, Canada, Austria, Germany and Spain. They will be staged on the nights of September 30, October 3 and October 6 with two shows each night.
A limit on the number of audience will be imposed for the first time in the festival’s 15-year history to ensure safety. The number of tickets for standing room will be cut by 6,000 in total, while the number of seats will be reduced by 2,430 compared with last year.
The total number of audience of each show will be 25,000 this year based on the capacity of the park, and the ticket sales will decrease nearly 1 million yuan (US$161,290) from last year due to the adjustment, Li Zhengming, an official with the Pudong New Area Tourism Commission, said today.
In addition, there will be more security guards and infrared detectors at the park as part of the strictest security measures in the event’s history.
The Austria’s show will offer audience a dreamlike journey, while people will be able to see sparkling diamond under moonlight and blossoming peonies at gardens in the show created by fireworks designers from Canada.
A seat is priced at 260 yuan. For standing room, a ticket is 70 yuan. A child under 1.3 meters is free of admission. People can call 58335621 or 38760588 for details.
The fireworks festival is a highlight of the Shanghai Tourism Festival and has been staged for 15 years.
