Shanghai Summer Music Week to start soon

THE Shanghai Summer Music Week will be held at the Cool Docks for the first time between August 9 and August 18, the organizer announced today.
Forty musicians from home and abroad will stage 12 performances including symphonies and jazz concerts in the Cool Docks (Lao Matou, literally "the old docks").
The show is free to the public and music fans are welcome to watch the show and talk with the musicians who will include the renowned conductor Hu Yongyan and Robert Blocker, Dean of School of Music at Yale University.
Locals can make reservations by calling 021-6152-6616.
The Cool Docks, No. 505, Zhongshan Road S., has many renovated Shikumen (stone gate) buildings, now occupied by bars and restaurants which are mostly located around a large open square with beautiful fountains.
