The festival will run for one month. Nine diverse styles of productions will be staged covering the different genres of drama, Peking Opera, musical and even puppetry.

Program highlights include new drama adaptation of Shakespeare’s classics “Macbeth” and “Romeo and Juliet,” a fashion show of Shakespeare plays as well as creative Peking Opera versions of “Hamlet” and “Taming of the Shrew.”

According to Lou Wei, an official with the academy, the festival will display new stage achievements and innovations of the faculty and pay tribute to the contribution of Shakespeare to theater art worldwide.
